Confused & Frustrated
It started in preschool, it wasn’t because I was terrible in school, but it didn´t catch me, as for many other kids in that age. There was a wide range of subjects I had to attend and I could not understand why and what I should ever use them for. In 8th grade I heard that it was possible to get into a high school with business as main focus. First then I realised that I had to stay focused in school.
One day I read about a Danish entrepreneur who had made millions on his business, it caught my attention. A life without financial struggles and the possibility to do whatever I wanted without ever thinking twice about it. Instead of starting work right away I waited till later, which I regret today. You might as well start as early as possible if you know your passion.
Business school – The dream of entrepreneurship and money was the drive
When I started in high school I had a goal and that was to start my first business while I was in school. During the second year we had classes in innovation. These classes’ main focus was to make an idea into a real business. My group and I started working determined on making our idea something that we actually could make a business of. It was a real learning experience for me and it made it clear to me that it was the right thing I was doing.
In the beginning of our third year we all agreed to stop, so we could focus more on the school. Several ideas have seen the light subsequently, but there is one question that has followed me since and it has been “what has been the real motivation to me?”
Passion & Curiosity
Since I started my first company the drive has been success and money, but that has changed as the time has passed. Now it is 2 years ago I ended my high school exam. The last couple of years I have spend on basically finding myself and my passion. it has definitely not been easy and I don’t know if I have found the “true” passion yet. For most of the ideas I have been working on the last couple of years I have been interested in the starting process and once it was realised my interest and motivation in the project failed. I have had difficulties realising what the problem has been. I have read articles from many successful people that they believe that whatever type of business/project they had started, they would succeed because of their passion for seeing it grow and develop. I have realised that I am divided on that point; I am passionate about the development of projects, but I have to be at least as passionate about what the project is about as well.
It´s no longer the pursue of money that drives me, it is the pursue of passion and curiosity. That is what I believe is the interesting perspective of life; to find something you are good at or something you find so interesting that you develop an expertise within the subject.
